为加强对外语学习者的研究，促进我国外语教学事业的发展，由山东大学外国语学院、英国普斯茅斯大学语言与地区研究学院主办的“第三届中国及东亚地区学习者国际研讨会”将于2007年11月在山东济南举行。
一、会议主题：中国及东亚地区学习者的需求与应对---变化与持续
(Responding to the Needs of the Chinese and East-Asian Learners: Changes and Continuity)
二、时间：2007年11月17－18日
三、征文范围（但不局限于下列话题）:
（1）大儒家文化圈下的外语学习；
（2）中国及东亚地区学习者特点；
（3）中国及东亚地区外语教学比较；
（4）中国及东亚地区学习者策略研究；
（5）中国及东亚学习者语料库研究；
（6）中国及东亚学习者与海外学习。

五、来稿要求:
论文摘要可以用中文或英文撰写（中文限800字；英文限300词）限一页纸(A4)，字体小四号，上下左右页边距均为3厘米。通过本次会议学术委员会匿名审查后即获会议正式代表资格。除论文摘要外，请另外附上个人资料，包括：(1)论文题目；(2)作者姓名；(3)所属单位；(4)通讯地址；(5)电子邮件地址。
六、论文摘要截止时间：2007年8月31日。

Call for papers:
Following the successful international conferences on Chinese learners by University of
Portsmouth in July 2004, and July 2006, the third conference on the needs of the Chinese and East Asian learners will be held in November 2007 in Jinan, China, by Shandong University and
University of Portsmouth. The conference theme will be:
\"Responding to the Needs of the Chinese and East-Asian Learners:
Changes and Continuity”
We invite contributions from ELT professionals, scholars and students on any topic relating to
this year\'s theme. Such topics might include, but are by no means limited to:
(1) Foreign language learning within Confucian heritage cultures,
(2) Distinctive Features of Chinese and East Asian learners,
(3) Comparisons of foreign language teaching in China and East Asia,
(4) Research on Chinese and East Asian learners’ strategies,
(5) Corpus studies on learners in China and East Asia,
(6) Chinese and East Asian learners and studying internationally.
Examples of good practice in all these areas and different viewpoints or papers from a
variety of disciplines will be welcomed.

Submission of abstracts:
We invite abstracts of up to 300 English words or 800 Chinese words for individual or joint
papers from a broad range of approaches to studies of Chinese and East-Asian learners,
including presentations with an empirical, critical, analytic, pedagogical, technological or
professional focus. Contributions may be in the form of:
Parallel sessions for papers of 30 minutes (20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions),
Workshops, and Poster presentations
Deadline for abstracts: 31st August, 2007
